About this piece

Some ensembles are designed to be worn. Ishq-e-Morni is designed to be remembered.

Created for the woman who appreciates Indian artisanal luxury without looking conventionally traditional, Ishq-e-Morni brings together the understated sophistication of premium red linen and the extraordinary hand-crafted character of Bengal Kantha embroidery.

The ensemble begins with a beautifully tailored premium linen jacket in a deep, confident red—clean in silhouette, contemporary in spirit and intentionally restrained, allowing the craftsmanship of its accompanying dupatta to command attention.

And then comes the showstopper - A generous 2-metre cream-coloured premium Gachhi Tussar silk dupatta becomes the canvas for an elaborate floral Kantha jaal, painstakingly worked across the fabric in coloured threads. Branches, leaves and blossoms travel organically across the Tussar, creating the imperfectly beautiful rhythm that can only belong to genuine hand embroidery.

Emerging dramatically from this garden of stitches is a magnificent statement peacock motif, rendered in dense Kantha embroidery. Richly detailed and unapologetically oversized, the morni transforms the dupatta from an accessory into a piece of collectible textile art.

The contrast between the naturally textured cream Tussar, vibrant hand embroidery and saturated red linen gives Ishq-e-Morni its distinctive personality—heritage Indian craftsmanship interpreted through contemporary luxury fashion.

A fine contrast red piping impeccably finishes the dupatta, visually connecting it to the linen jacket and giving the entire ensemble a considered couture finish.

Completing the look is a handcrafted belt, allowing the long Kantha dupatta to be tucked, wrapped, cinched, loosened or allowed to fall almost carelessly around the body. Wear it structured one evening and wildly asymmetric the next. There is no prescribed drape.

Because Ishq-e-Morni isn't interested in telling a woman how she should wear it.

It simply says:

Wear me. Make me yours. Set yourself free.

Designed for discerning collectors of luxury Indian designer wear, handcrafted textiles and contemporary Kantha fashion, Ishq-e-Morni moves effortlessly between an intimate soirée, an art opening, a destination celebration, a luxury resort evening or an occasion where wearing something quietly extraordinary matters more than simply dressing up.

This is slow fashion for the collector rather than the crowd—where the individuality of the artisan's hand is not concealed but celebrated. Every variation in stitch, every densely embroidered detail and every movement of the peacock carries the unmistakable signature of something made slowly and deliberately.

Ishq-e-Morni by Maatir Maanush is where premium linen, Gachhi Tussar silk, Bengal Kantha embroidery and contemporary Indian luxury clothing meet in one free-spirited statement.

FAQ's

About this piece

Is the peacock the hero, or is the woman wearing it?+

Definitely the woman. The dense hand-embroidered Kantha peacock simply makes sure nobody forgets her.

Do I have to drape the dupatta the “correct” way?+

There isn’t one. Belt it, wrap it, throw it over your shoulders or let the 2-metre Gachhi Tussar Kantha dupatta fall freely. Ishq-e-Morni was designed for personal styling, not rules.

Is this occasion wear—or can I actually have fun in it?+

Please have fun in it. The premium linen jacket and handcrafted belt give this luxury Kantha ensemble enough ease to move from an art evening to cocktails, intimate celebrations and destination dressing.

Will another Ishq-e-Morni look exactly like mine?+

Not quite—and that is part of its luxury. Bengal Kantha is embroidered by hand, so tiny variations in stitch and texture give every piece its own artisanal fingerprint.

What happens when I remove the belt?+

You suddenly have possibilities. Wear the red linen jacket independently, pair the Kantha peacock dupatta with another ensemble, or bring all three pieces together again. Think of Ishq-e-Morni less as a fixed outfit and more as a collectible Indian luxury wardrobe story.
